About Me

Sara J.
I have only started exploring my artistic side a few short years ago, but I am discovering more about myself every day. I feel a strong drive to work in 3D and collage. In photography I am drawn to textured things, and with 3D art I love to use materials that are very textured. I also work very messy sometimes; things that are to clean and precise I always want to mess them up more. I’ve noticed I put more brain power into how I execute my pieces than the concept or message I’m trying to send. It’s definitely more about the process for me. With photography I am drawn toward contrast and compositional elements more than content. I love zooming in on things to where you don’t actually see what it is right away, you just see the composition and contrast first. I like taking away some elements (like color or zooming in to make it abstract) to add interest to my work. Another thing I’ve noticed about my work habits is that I tend to get myself into long monotonous, repetitive projects. It becomes more personal, because I have spent so much time with it. I also like how I zone out while I’m doing repetitive work; I guess I like giving my brain a break from life.
